Custom corrugated boxes are usually light-weight, durable, and available in all sizes and shapes in the market. They are cost-effective than other packaging materials such as plastic and glass. It is the reason behind the huge demand for corrugated boxes for many years. If you want to use cardboard boxes for packaging and shipping purposes, there are many styles available to choose from. Below are the most common cardboard styles:
Regular Slotted
Container (RSC)
This
is the most used style of cardboard boxes. All the folds are of the same length
offering it a square appearance. The two outer folds combine at the center of
the box when closed.
Full Overlap
Container (FOL)
The
overlapped flaps at the bottom of the container act as a cushion. All flaps are
of the same length and enclose the full width of boxes. When these boxes are folded, the outer flaps
are covering each other.
All Flaps Meet
(AFM)
This
design is similar to the regular slotted boxes. Though, in this style both
inner and outer folds of the box make an equal surface as a part of the box interior.
Double Cover Box
(DCB)
These
are used in the packaging of heavy and tall items. First of all, the items are
placed on the bottom cover, and then the middle shell is slowly dropped to
cover the items.
Design Style
Tray (DST)
These
boxes are used in storing the products, and can also be used as a cover of
another DST. This is widely chosen as a storage box for heavyweight flat items.
While packaging products, the flaps are glued, taped, or stapled.
Half Slotted
Container (HSC)
These
are similar to RSC corrugated boxes, but there are no flaps on one side. With a
single set of flaps, these boxes are mainly used as a cover. It helps in easy
loading and transporting the products from one place to another.
One Piece Folder
(OPF)
A
single piece of cardboard is cut for a flat bottom, with flaps creating the
sides. These side flaps properly cover the top and bottom of the box. It is
used to package books and other printed materials. If you want to send a
business blueprint or any other important document, mail tubes are recommended
for this purpose.
Scored Sheets
and Dividers (SSD)
When
several scores are joined to insert in the pad, it turns into score sheets that
are used as a box accessory. These sheets provide interior structural support
and replace spaces inside the boxes.
Five Panel
Folder (FPF)
This
style provides extreme protection and strength to items of long length having a
smaller diameter. Several layers of cardboards are linked together, and the
fifth-panel uses as the outer flap, which is a single cut in the whole box.
Corrugated Pads
Flat
cardboard pads are used to cover the top or bottom of the packed items or separate
the items' layers while packaging.
